Analysis

Bros – We are back and I am excited to be writing this preview on the RBC taking place this week. Coming off one of the best Open Championship showdowns in recent memory, we have the RBC at Glen Abbey GC this week. A ton of big names are coming out for Canada’s annual tourney, which supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Canada. Also worth noting that this course, built in 1977, was Jack Nicklaus’ first course he built on his own.

It’s been 62 years since a Canadian has won the RBC. Is this Mike Weir’s year??? Is this Graham DeLaets year??? Honestly, no. With the likes of defending champ JDay, two time champ Jim Furyk, and others such as Snedeker, DJ, competing this week, it is sad to report that a Canadian will probably have to wait another year to try to take the coveted trophy. However, the trophy is pretty sweet if you haven’t seen it before, I love the giant maple leaf on top and the flags of the provinces and territories on it.

I really like Furyk this week. What’s not to like? Back to back championships in 06-07 make him a favorite this week. He loves the Canadian grass – T4 in ’15, 2nd in ’14, T9 in ’13. It’s been a tough past couple of tournaments for Jim, but I think he has the ability to recover and play like he did at the US Open (T2) and own Glen Abbey GC this week.

Another big name this week is the obvious – Dustin Johnson. With a win this week, the former party boy could rule North American Opens with a previous win at the US Open a few weeks back. Last person to win two Opens in the same year you ask… Tiger in 2000. That’s some lofty company.

Jday is kind of a sellout pick, although a good Vegas pick, as he won last year and is defending champion. I wonder what injury he will make up this week to make the media feel bad for him and to continue with his "me against the world" story. He is a good guy and will probably shut me up and take it home.

Lastly today Bros, let’s take a moment to remember one of the greatest shots in RBC history.

Tiger Woods – Bell Canadian Open, 2000.

Shot 2 – 216 yards with a 6 iron of the bunker over the water to setup a birdie for the win.

“Expert” Picks

Rico Dangles – Jim Furyk

Schank – Mr. Canada David Hearn

Marcello – Bryson DeChambeau

The People’s Golfer – Jon Rahm

Neves – Brandt Snedeker
