I am truly honored to kick off the weekly Brofessional Golfer tournament previews with the super sneaky Memorial Tournament. Often overlooked with the US Open breathing down its neck every year, the Muirfield Village Golf Club has already witnessed its share of history. Tiger Woods has absolutely ruled the roost at this course by winning five times since 1999. Not to mention, the first three times he held up the trophy, it was in consecutive years. Much like Tiger’s love life, where he has conquered, he has also slipped up. Last year, Woods shot an 85 in round three here, which was easily the worst round of his professional career.

Luckily, the 2016 field does not need to worry about Tiger Woods stealing the limelight regardless of his round performance because the dude is light years away from being ready. We have a star-studded field competing at this track in Dublin, OH. The Memorial is a lengthy course but a majority of the longer holes can be aggressively played to trim off the fat as they say. Chicks will really be digging the long balls this weekend as power over accuracy will prevail here.

With that logic in mind, I’m giving any long ball hitter who can avoid bogeying the par 5s the best chance to take home the biggest cut of bacon on Sunday. I honestly expect a big name to win like Jordan Spieth or Jason Day. I realize that’s like telling you turkey is gonna be served on Thanksgiving. It’s not exciting, but it makes sense.

Nevetheless, I do have three guys that will be lurking like snakes in the grass.

I’m getting tired of always picking Matt Kuchar, but the dude has a likable track record here with two top 30 finishes in the past two years.

The only guy who one-ups him the past two years here? Kevin Na. You’re probably sitting there like “Nah not Na, bro.” But Kevin has two top 15 finishes here the past two years including a 2nd place finish here in 2014 so boom goes the dynamite on that. (The Asian invasion actually took place here in 2014 with Hideki Matsuyama finishing in 1st place right above Kevin Na).

Rounding out my snakes in the grass is Bubba Watson. Has he been ice cold this year? Yes. Is he still a dick? Yes. But I like his 3rd place finish in 2014 and he tends to turn it around in the summer months. He has room on this golf course to mishit that cute little pink driver too.
